Kanako Niwa is a natural indigo dyer based in Ibaraki,
Japan.
Feeling the breath of nature and appreciating its workings, she also
grows indigo plants pesticide-free.
FOOPU was born out of her wish to color people's lives and minds with
indigo.
The name FOOPU is the combination of two Japanese
kanjis, the first one
風(foo) means wind and the second one 布(pu) means
cloth.
This represents the way she feels about creating, a process coming from
a source of unlimited imagination, flowing freely, like a cloth flapping and swimming in the wind.
